I believe in hard work. Nose to the grindstone, sleeves rolled up, good ol' fashioned hard work. I show up everyday to answer two questions: "How can I add value today?" and "How can I be better today than I was yesterday?". All good things flow from this.
{be just}
I believe in justice. I believe that I must be just in every decision that I make or am a part of, and that I must actively work to support all employees to promote true diversity and inclusion, not just compliance diversity and inclusion. I work to confront my unconscious biases and teach others how to see their own.
{genchi genbutsu}
Genchi genbutsu comes from the Toyota Production System and means "actual place, actual thing". When I learned about this, it resonated so deeply with me that it became central to my core self. I can't speculate or think I understand the challenges of other people or other teams. I have to go see it for myself, talk to the people myself, put myself in the center of the action so I can truly understand the situation. It is only from genchi genbutsu that I can begin to create meaningful solutions.
{disrupt}
I believe that to thrive and grow you have to deeply understand and anticipate the needs of the business and the employees, and then be ready to disrupt the status quo so you can create solutions that drive the future of the business. Being too married to habits or ways of thinking prevents growth, so I challenge myself to think differently, to speak up, and build structures that will facilitate the change that disruption brings.
{collaborate}
Collaboration is central to success. I work hard to bring people together from all parts of the business. I build influence through open communication and employ systems thinking to create process improvements that are value added. I never work in a silo. If HR is only hanging with HR, something's not working right.
{never stop learning}
I'm proud to be a lifelong learner. I voraciously consume new knowledge, and I'm always seeking to learn new concepts, new ideas, different viewpoints, interesting data sets. This really helps me be successful no matter where I land, because if I don't know it, I know how to learn it. And I love doing it.
